I rarely make my tomato sauce from scratch. In fact, I haven’t even made one. What for when there’s an abundance of tomato sauces around. You can even find the homemade kind in the grocery. They normally come in bottles and priced much higher than their mass-produced canned counterparts. So just a few weeks back, I got Good Housekeeping Olives & Capers Tomato Sauce.
I try to have tomato pasta sauce in stock at home because there always comes a time when I crave plain tomato sauce and pasta and I get so bummed when I find out I have none. But I really have to learn to make my own tomato sauce from scratch. But I still have to find a tried and tested recipe for that.

I love breads. All types except for Pan De Coco. In fact, one of the reasons I fell in love with a suitor who became my boyfriend was because he brought me a box of Ensaimada regularly. And yeah, he was also nice. At the start. The relationship lasted 2 years. And I got fat. But I didn’t break up with him because I put on weight or he stopped bringing me ensaimadas, it was another thing not even closely related to this carb.
When McDonald’s came out with its Sausage English Muffin, I found myself craving and having it everyday for one whole week. Not only was I close to being best of friends with the delivery boy who brought me my orders every morning, I was also putting on the weight and it already showed on hips and my hamster’s cheeks. I had to stop.
That’s why I was hesitant to put this Orowheat Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin in my cart when I went grocery shopping at Rustan’s the other week. But guess what? The English Muffin won.

Oh yeah, I still haven’t gotten over Mexican food. I don’t think I will. Ever. Mexican food is just so delicious. How do I differentiate delicious versus foods that aren’t? Simple. I never forget to taste Mexican food when I’m cooking it. Tacos, Mexican soup, burritos, salsa and you know the rest. I’ve got to have a taste or a bite. No fail. With other food, I tend to forget. Not that they’re not delish. It’s just that I don’t get excited with other dishes I prepare. For instance, I know my adobo would taste the same as my adobo last week and last month. As sure as I know that it’d taste the same 10 years from now. It would always be to die for. Period.
Well, let’s not talk about food not worth a single bite. You generally know what your taste buds love and don’t love. Which brings me to my grocery find of the week.
It’s a good thing I spent a good amount of time in the frozen section of Rustan’s Supermarket during my grocery last week. Why? Coz I found Tina’s Burrito and it’s only 40 pesos. It’s best during days when I can’t decide whether to eat out or to cook for lunch as I’m almost always alone most parts of the week.
It’s such a no-fuss meal. Just remove the burrito from the wrapper, put it in the microwave and heat on high for 40 seconds per side. That’s it.
It’s quite filling too. With beef and beans, it’s a complete meal. It’s a bit spicy so if you’re not into mild spicy food, don’t buy it.

I have never been a huge fan of our local instant noodles. I find them a bit salty for my taste and they get soggy fast. But I always have them in stock at home. My little girl wants noodles for breakfast from time to time and my son normally eats noodles when he gets hungry late at night. They’re easy to cook and prepare but too much of it is also bad. So I try to limit their consumption to twice weekly.
But then I found this…Lucky Me Special Po-Ku ramen. It’s Japanese style ramen. When I came across it in the grocery before heading to the hardware to purchase additional casters for my child’s bed, I was actually having second thoughts so I bought only two packs. I thought I’d try it first. It was only two days ago when I opened a pack for lunch. I did not cook lunch as I was the only one at home and my kids were all in school. And you know what, it was surprisingly so good. I liked it so much I had another one the following day. I wanted another one after that but I only bought two. So today, my little girl and I are going to the grocery to buy some more.
If you find one in your grocery, don’t do what I did. Purchase as many as you can manage. They’re really good. Trust me.

This is good….=)
